Acetylene

Acetylene is highly flammable and easily ignited, with a wide range of flammability in both air and oxygen. Acetylene is used in welding and the manufacture of chemicals. A gaseous hydrocarbon, it is colorless, unstable and highly combustible with a strong garlic odor. This gas produces a very hot flame (over 300°C or 540°F) when combined with oxygen.

INFORMATION C2H2
  1. Dissolved in acetone.
  2. Do not empty cylinder below bar 5 to avoid carrying along solvent.
  3. Recommended for atomic absorption.
CAUTIONS C2H2
  1. Heating may cause an explosion.
  2. Explosive with or without contact with air.
  3. Extremely flammable.
SAFETY C2H2
  1. Keep container in well ventilated place.
  2. Keep away from source of ignition. No smoking!
  3. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
